Arists statement: ‘
Open the Mind to the Beauty of Our Times.’-
usha shantharam
Usha Shantharam is a fine artist who lives and paints from Bangalore India. Her artistic journey started right from her
childhood days,
where she won many prizes for art at school and college.
A graduate in Home Science, she holds a certificate in 'In the Studio - Post War Abstract Painting' issued by the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).
Her paintings evoke a feeling of peace,
comfort; hope and connectedness in our hearts, and make us look at the beauty
and brighter side of life.
Her paintings are portrayed in the ‘Contemporary
Impressionism’ style. The subjects of her paintings are based on day to day real life moments and experiences, as she
believes that painting from real life is the truest form of expression.
She particularly enjoys painting ‘en plein air’, where
in she paints landscapes on location from real life and also paints portraits
of people in real life sittings.
She has a passion for experimenting with interesting
new color combinations, unusual angles, and the play of light and shadows in
her paintings.
Her ‘Body
Language’ series of paintings gives you a peek into the life of the common
Indian man/woman; whom we see everyday, and yet do not have the time to look
and appreciate the beauty of their simple attire, poise, posture and lifestyle.
Her ‘The Drawing Room Musings’ series is a
collection of ‘en plein air’ paintings of Indian Landscapes done on location at
Lal Bagh Bengaluru, Mysore University Campus, Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary and
Ooty.
Her 'Laya' series of Indian classical dancers' paintings - was done in remembrance of her mother who was a BharathaNatyam lover.
Her 'Love in Lal Bagh' series is all about the cozy couples who sit under the beautifully flowering, gigantic trees of the Lal Bagh gardens in Bangalore, oblivious of their surroundings, to pour their hearts content to each other.
Usha Shantharam also shares her knowledge of painting in online art classes. DM for inquiries. She can be followed on social media platforms of Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook where she shares her Art Journey posts.
She is internationally renowned and her paintings can be found in the private collections of Collectors from India, U.S, U.K, Netherlands, South Africa and Australia.
